Glen GaffneyI first had an interest in photography in my teenage years in England. I just wanted to record the beautifull landscapes of my European Vacations. I was just a snapshooter for many years.

When I emigrated to Canada I brought more lenses and took more images. I was involved in oil painting for a few years, and my interest in photography was starting to devlope into an art form. I joined Sudbury Camera Club in 1980, and my so called good images received very poor marks. So I had to start all over again. I learnt from some very good photographers at the club. It was an atmosphere of competition and one of sharing. I started to win some competitions the more success I had the more it motivated me. I felt I needed to get to another level and entered national competitions.

I gradually improved and my mission statement on Photography was -to get the best possible result from any given subject in light of my experience. My greatest acheivement was to be published images and text for red fox in PHOTO LIFE. This project took me 6 years till I felt I had most scenarios covered. I like the creative side of photography I suppose that was as a result of me being involved in oil painting. I really like the total uniqueness of creative images. Photography has been a big part of my life and I have had fun.
