Thank you for this opportunity to tell of the work I do and have done in photography..
I have been a photographer for about 40 years..started out shooting weddings, and little league sports...After a time my interest developed toward wildlife / nature photography.
The last 20 years I’ve had the good fortune to travel around seeing many unusual sights..I’ve been to Central America..Alaska..Matagorda..Padre Island..mainly photographing birds. But one day stopping to watch a flock of geese in a rice field it hit me that there was no place like the Louisiana Marshes...Atchafalaya basin..Lake Miller..Lake Martin..all of these places known around the world for their wildlife, mostly breeding birds...Every spring it’s a pilgrimage to these places to capture a white faced Ibis..a common cattle egret..the great egret..the great blue heron..tri colored heron..
I want to leave behind a small photo montage for the next generation to see..a beautiful sunset on Lake Martin...a sunrise in the Atchafalaya basin..nesting egrets and yes even the alligator, which has it’s own beauty..a male cardinal in his bright red plumage singing his heart out to impress a female. All of these sights are here, right out my back door..
But, nature is where you find it...even in down town Manhattan there is beauty, the Peregrine Falcon nesting above on a window ledge above the hustle and bustle of city life..
I thank my grandmother for showing me life and the beauty of nature..I am proud part blood Cherokee Indian..and I cherish my heritage..
I have had the good fortune over the years that some of my work has been published and collected..it is with a grateful heart that I mention this..
Thank you for your consideration,
RL
