SIMPLICITY and ENERGY are the two words I'd use to describe what I am trying to achieve when I take a picture. These two elements are crucial, in my opinion, for a successful image. I strive as much as possible to recreate that bond in everything I see. Of course it doesn't always happen, but when it does it jumps out at you.
One of the rewarding things about photography for me is the frame. Being able to fit and work with things within that box is always challenging. For the majority of my work I use Contax 35mm but for real joy I always take out my Rollei and Bronica SQ and play around with the square image.
I've been a professional photographer for ten years now. The majority of my work has been for editorial clients. I'm British, but I am now based in Singapore. I moved out here two years ago and really enjoy working in Asia. I travel throughout the area, going as far East as New Zealand and as far west as the Middle East.
I don't really fall into any category of photography. I shoot stock for Photonica in London, I also specialise in travel, I'm an art photographer, I love portraiture as well as food and interiors. I also write about my travel experiences. I've written two travel books that were published in 2000.
Enjoy my portfolio and any feedback would be appreciated.
